Expand Your Musicianship… Expand Your Income!!!
Filed under: Music Marketing, Quick Tips & Useful Links
I’m always discussing ways musicians can make more money as artists or as a complete band but I’ve come to realize that I very rarely, if ever, dip into how a musician can make a living as a session player or a fill in member for other bands…
Not that I’ve ever been a session player myself, but let’s think about it for a moment. The more instruments you can play and the more styles of music that you can wrap your head (and fingers) around, the more valuable you become in the music industry. Think of it like owning your very own money printer. The jobs you can get musically involved with expand by a multiple of anywhere from say… 2 paid outings per week to as high as 10 or more…. Stick To Them Like Glue

Here’s a music marketing tip that you can put into play almost immediately that will bring you some returns on your small investment in a hurry. Go to your local print shop and have them print out some sticky notepads that list your gig dates in sequential order. Michael Jackson Quote
I let nature take its course. I don’t sit at the piano and think, I’m going to write the greatest song of all time… It has to be given to you. I believe it’s already up there before you are born, and then it drops right into your lap. It’s the most spiritual thing in the world… Sometimes I feel guilty putting my name on the songs… because it’s as if the heavens have done it already.

Gene Simmons Quote

Resolutions or… Action Plans?
It’s 3 days into the new year and I’m sure you’ve all been trying to stick to those resolutions that everyone puts into action each and every year… but is it our new years resolution that bring us the success and happiness we strive to find or the day to day actions and the smaller weekly plans we create on a regular?
If you’re anything like me, you’re opting in for day to day actions. It’s well known that those who fail to plan… plan to fail. Planning is something you need to take care of on a weekly if not daily basis. Most successful entrepreneurs (yes that’s you too) map out their yearly, monthly, weekly and daily action plans. Yes. They know exactly what their future career goals are and how they’re going to get there well in advance… Read more
