The Music Biz Buzz Podcast – Episode #04 – Commit To Action

January 23, 2010 by Duss Rodgers

GuitarWhat’s up music people! I missed out on last weeks podcast and for that I am sorry… But I’ve made up for it with this weeks pod for you. Commit To Action! Yes that means you. Get off your @$$ and get to work on your music career or whatever it is that you’ve been procrastinating with this year.

The year is still young and you’ve still got an opportunity to make the most of it so I’m helping you out here with my 2 cents on how you can make it happen…

Plus… I’ve included an interview with a local indie musician (well… he’s from Toronto so he’s kind of local) and the success he’s found in D.I.Y. of the music business. Having placed in the top 30 or so on the now defunct Canadian Idol (the Canadian version of American Idol of course… but you knew that right?) he talks about how artists can use these types of venues to boost their career and music marketing power.

So if you’ve ever performed in a battle of the bands or won prizes for placing in festivals and showcases, be sure to jack some of his tips on how to use these awards and placements to your advantage.

Hope you enjoy and as always… To your success,

Duss Rodgers

  2. Awesome tips! I think it’s really helpful. One more thing that I wanna say is that these days there are a lot of websites offering help to indie musicians like http://www.slicethepie.com/ http://www.reverbnation.com/ and http://www.musicxray.com it’s really up to the artists to find the best tool to promote their songs.

  4. Absolutely Neiko! Artists must perform their due diligence and determine what works best for them. Every artist has a unique working methodology and what works for one may not be appropriate for another. Thanks for the resource links.
